Kane’s hat trick propels Phantoms past Bears

Down by a 2-1 score, Philadelphia netted four unanswered goals to take a 5-2 road win over arch-rival Hershey on Saturday before 8,363 fans at the Giant Center.

Boyd Kane tallied a hat trick for the Phantoms, scoring three goals in an 11:51 span during the second period. Claude Giroux and Patrick Maroon added goals in the win for Philadelphia.

The Bears jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the contest on Kyle Wilson’s first goal of the campaign.

Kane tied it with a power play goal 3:24 into the second period, but Hershey’s Jay Beagle also netted his first goal of the campaign at the 9:31 mark to put the Bears back on top.

Kane then re-tied the score at 12:48 and gave Philadelphia the lead for good with a power play goal at 15:15.

Giroux added another man-advantage marker in the third period, and Maroon sealed the win with a late empty-net goal.

Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin earned his first victory in a Phantoms uniform with 30 saves on 32 shots, helping Philadelphia to its third consecutive win overall.
