The Los Angeles Kings have acquired right wing Steve Quailer from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Robert Czarnik.
Quailer is expected to report to the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs; Czarnik will report to the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Quailer, 24, has been with the Canadiens organization since that club selected him in the third round (86th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. In 12 games for Hamilton this season, he has recorded one goal and four assists. As a rookie in 2012-13, Quailer tallied six goals and four assists in 64 games with the Bulldogs.
A native of Arvada, Colo., Quailer spent four years (2008-12) at Northeastern University.
Czarnik, selected by the Kings in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded one goal and four assists in 29 games with Manchester this season.
The 24-year-old native of Detroit, Mich., is in his third professional season and has totaled 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points in 129 career AHL games, all with the Monarchs. He spent two seasons at the University of Michigan and two seasons with Plymouth (OHL) before turning pro in 2011.
