Kohn added to All-Star roster

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced that Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman Dustin Kohn has been added to the Canadian team roster for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, to take place Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 18 and 19, in Portland, Maine.

Kohn replaces Bridgeport teammate Mark Katic, who will miss the event due to injury.

A second-round draft choice by the New York Islanders in 2005, Kohn has recorded two goals and 15 assists in 44 games for Bridgeport this season. The 22-year-old native of Edmonton, Alta., has already matched his career high for points and set a new personal mark for assists in a season.

The AHL also announced that Rochester Americans goaltender Alexander Salak and Providence Bruins forward Mikko Lehtonen have been added to the PlanetUSA team’s starting lineup; Hershey’s Michal Neuvirth and Norfolk’s Brandon Bochenski had been voted as starters, but will both miss the event due to NHL recall.

The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic will feature the top talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2010 Ducks Unlimited AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Monday, January 18 (8:00 p.m. ET) and the 2010 AHL All-Star Game on Tuesday, January 19 (6:00 p.m. ET). Of the 492 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 94 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Dan Boyle, Daniel Briere, Brian Campbell, Zdeno Chara, Rick DiPietro, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Bobby Ryan, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Tomas Vokoun.
