SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League (AHL) announced today that Abbotsford Heat forward Krys Kolanos has been selected as the winner of the reGen® Muscle Recovery Beverage/AHL Performance of the Month award for March.
On March 25, after the Heat fell behind 3-0 in a critical Western Conference showdown against San Antonio, Kolanos recorded a hat trick and tied an AHL season high with five points to lead his team to a 6-5 comeback victory.
After recovering from a serious hip injury that sidelined him for 22 months, Kolanos returned to the ice at the start of the 2011-12 season and has been one of the Heat’s top scorers, totaling 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points in 44 games.
For his role in his team’s victory after his own impressive recovery, the Calgary, Alta., native will be honored with the reGen®/AHL Performance of the Month award at an upcoming game.
