LaBarbera signs with Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals, have signed goaltender Jason LaBarbera to a one-year contract through the 2014-15 NHL season.

LaBarbera has appeared in 281 career AHL games with Hartford, Manchester, Oklahoma City and Rockford, posting a record of 146-91-23 and ranking seventh all-time with 28 career shutouts. He was 15-16-3 (2.94, .901) in 34 games between Oklahoma City and Rockford in 2013-14.

The Burnaby, B.C., native has seen action in 182 career National Hockey League games with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Phoenix and Edmonton, registering a 60-73-19 record with six shutouts, a 2.86 GAA and a .907 save percentage in those games.

LaBarbera was named the AHL’s most valuable player during the 2003-04 season and is a two-time winner of the Baz Bastien Award (2003-04, 2006-07) as the AHL’s outstanding goaltender. He was selected by the Rangers in the third round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
