The Tampa Bay Lightning have claimed forward Danick Martel off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Martel, 23, recorded 25 goals and 15 assists for 40 points in 59 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season, beginning the 2017-18 season with 14 goals in his first 14 contests. Martel was selected to play in the AHL All-Star Classic, but missed the event due to injury.

Martel also made his NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers last season, appearing in four games. He added four goals and four assists in 13 postseason games in 2018 as the Phantoms reached the AHL’s Eastern Conference Finals.

The fourth-year pro has appeared in 199 career AHL games — all with the Phantoms — totaling 68 goals and 52 assists for 120 points. He has topped the 20-goal mark in each of his first three campaigns.
