Lightning, Rangers make trade

The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have acquired defenseman Bryce Lampman from the New York Rangers, parent club of the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, in exchange for left wing Mitch Fritz.

Lampman, 24, has been a member of the Rangers organization the past five seasons and appeared in 60 games with the Wolf Pack last season, recording six goals, 19 assists and 62 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 193-pound native of Rochester, Minn., has appeared in 258 career AHL games, recording 19 goals, 76 points and 234 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 10 NHL games with the Rangers.

Drafted in the fourth round, 113th overall, by the Rangers in 2001, Lampman represented the United States at the 2002 World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic, recording eight penalty minutes in seven games.

Fritz, 26, recorded one assist and 144 PIM in 63 AHL games with Springfield in 2006-07. In 223 career AHL contests with Springfield, Worcester, Milwaukee, Saint John, Hamilton and Lowell, the 6-foot-8, 258-pound Fritz has amassed 10 goals, nine assists and 669 PIM.

Fritz won the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award in 2005-06 as the AHL’s Man of the Year for his outstanding community contributions.
