Marchment named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies forward Mason Marchment has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 5, 2017.

Marchment recorded one goal and six assists for seven points in three games last week, helping the Marlies kick off a six-game road trip with three consecutive victories.

On Wednesday night in Laval, Marchment recorded two assists as Toronto defeated the Rocket, 3-0. Then on Saturday, Marchment scored once and notched two more assists while posting a plus-3 rating in a 4-1 victory at Hershey. And on Sunday, Marchment authored his third consecutive multiple-point game, earning two more assists in a 5-1 Toronto win at Lehigh Valley.

A second-year pro from Uxbridge, Ont., Marchment has recorded five goals and six assists for 11 points in nine games for the Marlies this season; he entered the 2017-18 campaign with just one goal in 12 games of AHL experience. The 22-year-old Marchment, whose father Bryan was a longtime NHL defenseman who currently serves as a development coach for the San Jose Barracuda, spent most of last season with Orlando (ECHL), collecting 20 points in 35 games.

In recognition of his achievement, Marchment will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Marlies home game.
