Marlies sign trio of new players

The Toronto Marlies have announced the signings of center Joshua Winquist and defensemen Michael Paliotta and Matias Cleland to contracts.

Winquist, 23, recorded 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 53 AHL games with Bridgeport in 2016-17, setting career highs for goals, points and plus/minus (+12).

A native of St. Albert, Alta., Winquist enters his fourth professional season having played 135 games in the AHL with Bridgeport, Bakersfield and Oklahoma City, totaling 31 goals and 50 assists for 81 points.

Paliotta, 24, spent last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack, notching one goal and 13 assists for 14 points in 52 AHL games.

A Calder Cup champion with Lake Erie in 2016, Paliotta has totaled nine goals and 28 assists for 37 points in 120 games over his two seasons in the AHL. He has also appeared in two NHL games, one with Chicago in 2014-15 and one with Columbus in 2015-16.

Cleland, 23, completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire last spring, recording three goals and 33 assists for 36 points and serving as team captain in 2016-17.

The native of Longmont, Colo., registered 14 goals and 72 assists for 86 points in 157 games over four seasons at UNH.
