The Toronto Marlies advanced to the Western Conference Finals with a 4-0 win over the Chicago Wolves at Ricoh Coliseum on Friday night.
With their second consecutive sweep, the Marlies improved to 7-0 in the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs. Toronto has not trailed in a game all postseason.
After Drew MacIntyre made a pair of point-blank saves, Toronto brought it back the other way and Greg McKegg gave the Marlies a 1-0 lead 7:51 into the first period, snapping a shot past Jake Allen from between the circles.
Carter Ashton doubled the lead at 2:46 of the second period, beating Allen to the short side from low on the right-wing side.
At 7:09 of the third, Sam Carrick sprung Peter Holland on a breakaway and Holland netted his fourth goal of the series to make it 3-0 in favor of the Marlies.
Korbinian Holzer finished it off with an empty-net goal with 3.7 seconds to play.
MacIntyre (7-0) made 30 saves for his second shutout of the 2014 postseason and the seventh of his Calder Cup Playoff career. Jerry D’Amigo extended his scoring streak to seven games with an assist, his league-leading 12th point of the playoffs.
Allen (3-6) stopped 25 of 28 shots in the loss.
