McCarthy, Burish trading places

The San Jose Sharks on Wednesday reassigned forward Adam Burish to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, while the St. Louis Blues reassigned forward John McCarthy to the AHL’s Worcester Sharks.

McCarthy recorded five goals and three assists for eight points in 25 games for Chicago this season. Prior to signing with St. Louis in July, the 28-year-old native of Andover, Mass., spent his first five years as a professional in the San Jose organization.

McCarthy ranks third all-time in games played in Worcester Sharks history (242) and sixth in goals scored (53). The former Sharks captain has also appeared in 87 games with the San Jose Sharks (three goals, three assists).

Burish, 32, has posted one goal and two assists in 20 games this season for San Jose and added four goals with three assists in 18 games with Worcester. The Madison, Wis., native has contributed 27 goals and 33 assists in 378 career NHL regular-season appearances, and won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010.
