Milwaukee pushes IceHogs to the brink

MILWAUKEE 3, ROCKFORD 1
Milwaukee put a firm grip on its West Division semifinal with yet another 3-1 win over Rockford on Sunday evening at the MetroCentre. Three different players netted goals for the Admirals, and goaltender Drew MacIntyre made 25 saves on 26 shots.

Holding a 3-0 series lead – all three wins by 3-1 finals – Milwaukee goes for the sweep and its first postseason series win since 2006 when Game 4 goes at the MetroCentre on Tuesday. If needed, Game 5 would be back in Milwaukee on Friday.

The teams played a scoreless opening period, but the Admirals took a 2-0 lead before the second frame was half over on goals by Andreas Thuresson and Triston Grant.

Ryan Jones extended the lead to 3-0 with a power play goal 3:08 into the third period. Cal O’Reilly registered a pair of assists for Milwaukee and now shows a team-high six points (2-4-6) in the series thus far.

IceHogs forward Tyler Mosienko spoiled MacIntyre’s shutout bid with his first career AHL playoff goal at 17:39 of the third period, on the power play.
