Monarchs rule over Pirates in OT

Mike Cammalleri scored at the 3:52 mark of overtime to give Manchester a 5-4 win over Portland at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday night.

It was Cammalleri’s third point of the night and 102nd of the season, making this the first time since 1998-99 that the AHL has had two 100-point scorers in the same year. Binghamton’s Jason Spezza leads the league with 106 points.

Brad Smyth, Tom Kostopoulos and George Parros added a goal and an assist each for the Monarchs, who kept their two-point lead over Hartford atop the Atlantic Division.

Brian Willsie scored twice for the Pirates, including the game-tying goal with 1:55 left in regulation.
