The Florida Panthers announced today that former Lake Erie Monsters broadcaster Doug Plagens has been named the team’s new radio play-by-play broadcaster and will serve as the “voice” of the Panthers on the club’s newly created radio network.
“We are extremely pleased and honored to welcome Doug as our team’s new radio play-by-play broadcaster,” said Florida Panthers Executive Chairman Peter Luukko. “Doug is a dynamic, young and talented broadcaster who brings with him a tremendous resume and strong background in broadcasting, serving as a play-by-play announcer for several professional sports teams. He will undoubtedly be a valuable asset for our organization serving as a both a spokesperson and ambassador for the Panthers brand in South Florida.”
Plagens has spent the previous four seasons with Cavaliers Operating Company, serving as the radio and television play-by-play broadcaster for the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters and Arena Football League’s Cleveland Gladiators. Plagens also served on the radio broadcast team for the 2015 AHL All-Star Game and served as a feature reporter for Access Cavaliers on Fox Sports Ohio.
