Moose capture sixth straight win, end IceHogs’ streak

MANITOBA 2, ROCKFORD 1

Manitoba scored twice in a 44-second span during the second period and held on for a 2-1 road victory over Rockford on Friday at the MetroCentre. Jason Jaffray and Guillaume Desbiens netted goals for the Moose, and goaltender Cory Schneider made 19 saves in the victory.

Manitoba extended its winning streak to six games and ended Rockford’s win streak at the six-game mark.

The teams played a scoreless first period, but the IceHogs took the lead 4:26 into the second period on a power play goal by Pascal Pelletier.

Jaffray responded with a power play goal of his own for the Moose at 13:07, and Desbiens tallied an unassisted marker at 13:51. Neither side scored in the third period.

The Moose are now 6-0-0-0 since dropping the first two games of their season in regulation to Hamilton. Manitoba still has visits to Quad City and Peoria remaining on the weekend.
