Moose re-sign Burrows, Rypien
The Manitoba Moose, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have re-signed forwards Alexandre Burrows and Rick Rypien to American Hockey League contracts.
Burrows, 24, played in 72 regular-season games in 2004-05 with the Moose and appeared in all 14 postseason contests. In the regular season, the Pincourt, Que., native scored nine goals and 26 points to go along with 107 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, Burrows added three assists and 33 penalty minutes. At the end of his first full season with the Moose, Burrows was given the teams Hardest Working Player Award.
He was signed as a free agent by the Moose back on October 21, 2003.
Rypien, 21, joined the Moose late in the 2004-05 regular season on an amateur tryout contract and played in eight regular-season games, registering one goal and one assist along with five penalty minutes. In the playoffs, the Coleman, Alta., native appeared in all 14 games, but failed to register a point. He did collect 25 penalty minutes.
Rypien played in 63 games last season with the Western Hockey Leagues Regina Pats as their captain, collecting 21 goals and 51 points, along with 148 penalty minutes. In his four-year career with Regina, Rypien appeared in 179 games, scoring 47 goals and 114 points and collecting 493 penalty minutes.
Rypien originally signed an amateur tryout contract with the Moose back on March 22, 2005.
