Moose’s Moran named Rbk/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Manitoba Moose center Brad Moran has been named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 30, 2008. Moran notched eight points on a goal and seven assists in four road games last week as the Moose clinched a berth in the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Moran began the week with a three-assist performance to help Manitoba to a 7-2 win at Lake Erie on Tuesday night, then recorded two assists in Wednesday’s 4-1 victory at Rochester as the Moose extended their winning streak to 10 games. Moran came back with a goal and an assist on Friday to help Manitoba erase a four-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 shootout loss to Rochester. And Saturday, he assisted on the only Moose goal in a 6-1 loss at Toronto.

In recognition of his achievement, Moran will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Moose home game.

Moran finished the week with a nine-game scoring streak, and now ranks sixth in the American Hockey League with 72 points (21 goals, 51 assists) in 67 games for Manitoba in 2007-08, matching his career high for points in a season. The native of Abbotsford, B.C., has registered 144 goals and 241 assists for 385 points in 470 games with Manitoba and Syracuse over seven AHL seasons.
