SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … Charlotte Checkers goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic made American Hockey League history on Saturday night when he became just the 13th goaltender in the AHL’s 82-year history to be credited with scoring a goal.

With Hartford’s net empty for an extra attacker, Nedeljkovic sent a shot down the length of the ice and in to cap Charlotte’s 7-3 win at Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.

Nedeljkovic is the eighth AHL goaltender to be credited with a goal by actually shooting the puck into the opposition net. In addition to his goal, Nedeljkovic stopped 23 of 25 shots in the Checkers victory after coming on in relief of Jeremy Smith in the second period.
