Norfolk ends trip with shutout win

Jason Morgan had a goal and an assist and Michael Leighton registered his third shutout of the season as Norfolk defeated San Antonio, 2-0, in the finale of the Admirals’ four-game Texas road trip on Tuesday night.

The Ads went 1-2-0-1 on the six-day journey, and hits the Christmas break in second place in the East Division, one point ahead of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The game was scoreless until Morgan netted his fifth goal of the season with 6:05 remaining in the second period. Marty Wilford and Duncan Keith earned the assists.

Morgan then helped set up Matt Keith‘s goal with 8:59 to go in regulation, providing the final margin of victory.

Leighton needed just 15 saves on the night, as Norfolk finished with a 38-15 edge in shots.

Travis Scott, who made 48 saves in the Rampage’s win on Sunday, stopped 36 shots in the loss.
