Norfolk inks four

The Norfolk Admirals announced today that four players have agreed to terms for American Hockey League standard player contracts.

The Admirals have signed defenseman Nate Guenin, left wing Garrett Klotz, left wing Patrick Maroon and defenseman Matt Smaby.

Guenin, 29, recorded five assists in 27 AHL games for Syracuse last season, while adding two goals in 15 NHL games for Anaheim. Entering his seventh professional season, Guenin has played 375 career AHL gaems with Syracuse, Springfield, Peoria, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Philadelphia.

Klotz, 23, notched two goals and two assists in 33 contests with Adirondack in 2011-12. The fifth-year pro has skated in 155 AHL games, all with the Phantoms, since being drafted by Philadelphia in the third round in 2007.

Maroon, 24, set career highs with 32 goals, 42 assists, 74 points and a plus-17 rating in 75 games with Syracuse last season, finishing third in the AHL in scoring. Entering his fifth pro season, Maroon has appeared in 287 career AHL games with Syracuse and Adirondack/Philadelphia, totaling 92 goasl and 136 assists for 228 points.

Smaby, 27, notched two goals, seven assists and a plus-12 rating in 30 AHL games with Syracuse last season. A second-round draft pick by Tampa Bay, Smaby spent parts of three seasons (2007-10) with Norfolk and has tallied seven goals and 32 assists for 39 points in 186 games with Syracuse, Norfolk and Springfield.
