Oh Boyes! Bruins roll over Lowell

A four-point night by Brad Boyes included his second career hat trick as Providence posted a 6-2 victory over Lowell at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Friday night.

Boyes scored two power-play goals 2:34 apart during the Bruins’ four-goal first period, and capped his performance with an empty-net goal just 90 seconds left in the game. He added an assist in the second period to tie his AHL career high with four points.

Andy Hilbert scored twice for Providence and Pat Aufiero recorded three assists. Hannu Toivonen finished with 34 saves in net.

Ryan Bayda and Chuck Kobasew had a goal and an assist apiece for the Lock Monsters, who lost for the first time in four games this season. The Bruins improved to 2-1-0-1 on the season, and have now earned a point in 22 straight meetings with Lowell.
