Oilers acquire defenseman Rourke

The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the AHL’s Springfield Falcons, have acquired defenseman Allan Rourke and a 2008 third-round draft pick to from the New York Islanders in exchange for a second-round pick in 2008.

Rourke, 27, served as Bridgeport’s alternate captain each of the last two seasons. In 2006-07, he recorded five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 60 games for the Sound Tigers, and added one assist in 11 appearances for the Islanders.

In seven AHL seasons, Rourke has totaled 49 goals and 102 assists for 151 points in 414 games. He also has five points (1g, 4a) in 42 career NHL games with the Islanders and Carolina.
