Oilers, Ducks make trade

The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons, have acquired defenseman Bryan Rodney from the Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, in exchange for center Ryan O’Marra.

Rodney has played in 41 games this season with Syracuse, collecting 20 points (five goals, 15 assists). The 6-foot, 200-pound rearguard has played 33 career NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes scoring a goal and adding 12 assists.

In 280 AHL games with Hartford, Albany, Charlotte and Syracuse, Rodney has recorded 156 points (29 goals, 127 assists). He was also named an AHL All-Star in 2010 and 2011.

O’Marra tallied eight goals, nine assists and a plus-15 rating in 40 games with Oklahoma City this season, and added one assist in seven games for Edmonton.

A 2005 first-round draft choice (15th overall) by the New York Islanders, O’Marra has recorded 29 goals and 52 assists for 81 points in 268 AHL games with Bridgeport, Springfield and Oklahoma City, as well as one goal and six assists in 31 NHL contests with the Oilers.
