Olvecky’s last-minute strike lifts Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE 3, SAN ANTONIO 2
Peter Olvecky snapped a 2-2 tie with 28.6 seconds left in regulation, sending Milwaukee Admirals to a 3-2 win over visiting San Antonio on Thursday at the Bradley Center.

Four of Olvecky’s last six goals have now been game-winners, and he shows 10 goals and 22 points in 37 contests for the season.

Defenseman Jonathan Blum picked up the lone assist on Olvecky’s tally, which lifted the Admirals to their second straight victory on the heels of a three-game winless skid.

Milwaukee forwards Dave Scatchard and Mark Santorelli scored in the first and second periods, respectively, giving their club leads of 1-0 and 2-1.

The Rampage fought back on both occasions, as rookie Justin Bernhardt tallied his first career AHL goal in the second period and 2010 AHL All-Star defenseman Sean Sullivan scored in the third frame.

But San Antonio could not recover from Olvecky’s last-minute goal and saw its six-game points streak (5-0-0-1). The Rampage lost in regulation for the first time since their last visit to Milwaukee, a 4-3 decision on Dec. 20.

Admirals goaltender Mark Dekanich picked up the victory with 24 saves on 26 shots in net.
