Olympian Goloubef signs with Flames

Coming off a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, Stockton Heat defenseman Cody Golubef has signed a two-way contract with the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

Goloubef, 28, has seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points with a plus-11 rating in 34 games with Stockton this season. He had two assists in six Olympic contests with Canada.

In 253 regular-season contests in the AHL with Stockton, Cleveland, San Antonio and Springfield, Goloubef has totaled 27 goals and 68 assists for 95 points, and he participated in the 2014 AHL All-Star Classic.

A native of Oakville, Ont., Goloubef was a second-round draft choice by Columbus in 2008. He has two goals and 21 assists in 129 career NHL games with Columbus and Colorado.
