Panthers recall Oreskovich, Ellerby

The Rochester Americans announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled forward Victor Oreskovich and defenseman Keaton Ellerby.

The pair will join the team tonight and are expected to make their National Hockey League debuts as the Panthers face the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center.

Oreskovich, 23, receives his first ever NHL promotion after registering four points (1g, 3a) and two penalty minutes in five American Hockey League contests with the Amerks.

The former second-round draft pick by the Colorado Avalanche picked up his second multi-point game of the season with a pair of assists Friday night to help Rochester win in its eighth straight game, a 4-2 decision over the Binghamton Senators.

A native of Oakville, Ont., the 6-foot-3, 225-pound forward signed a two-year deal with Florida as a free agent on Oct. 8, 2009.

Ellerby, 22, heads to the show for the first time this season after collecting four assists and skating in all 11 games for the Amerks. The second-year is currently tied for first on the team with a plus-four on-ice rating.

In 86 AHL games with Rochester, the 6-foot-4, 186-pound blueliner has registered three goals and 24 assists for 27 points. A native of Strathmore, Alta., Ellerby was taken by Florida in the first round (10th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
