Phantoms double up River Rats

Tony Voce scored two goals — one on a power play and one shorthanded — as Philadelphia defeated Albany on Sunday evening, 4-2, at the Wachovia Center.

Both of Voce’s goals came as the Phantoms opened up a 3-1 lead in the first period. R.J. Umberger tallied a goal and two assists in the frame.

Rejean Beauchemin made 37 saves to earn the win in his AHL debut, stopping 29 of 30 shots over the final two periods.

Jason Ryznar and Cam Janssen scored for the River Rats.

J.F. Fortin scored three times in regulation for Hershey, but Michel Ouellet converted on both of his shootout attempts to lead Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a 4-3 road win at Giant Center.

Fortin, who had 11 goals in 173 career AHL games entering the night, scored all three of his goals on the power play, including the game-tying score with 5:31 left in regulation.

The Bears had another man advantage in overtime, but could not pull out the win.

Ouellet, a 30-goal scorer in each of his first two AHL seasons, had a goal and an assist in regulation before going 2-for-2 in the shootout, giving the Penguins their third win of the young season by beating Frederic Cassivi in the sixth round.

Dany Sabourin made 31 saves for the Penguins, getting the start after Marc-Andre Fleury was recalled by parent club Pittsburgh.
