Phantoms’ Lauridsen earns first recall

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have recalled defenseman Oliver Lauridsen from the Adirondack Phantoms.

This is Lauridsen’s first recall to the NHL. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound defenseman has appeared in 59 games for the Phantoms this season, his second with Adirondack, posting a goal and five assists for six points and 77 penalty minutes.

A native of Gentofte, Denmark, Lauridsen was the Flyers’ seventh-round pick (196th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He spent three seasons at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota of the WCHA.

Lauridsen spent last year, his rookie season, with the Phantoms where he played in 65 games scoring three goals and four assists with 85 penalty minutes.

Lauridsen becomes the 11th player to be called up from the Adirondack Phantoms to Philadelphia this season, joining Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Zac Rinaldo, Eric Wellwood, Tye McGinn, Andreas Lilja, Erik Gustafsson, Brian Boucher, Harry Zolnierczyk and Michael Leighton.
