The Adirondack Phantoms have announced that they have signed two forwards to American Hockey League contracts for the 2013-14 season. Chris VandeVelde and Doug Clarkson have both agreed to one-year deals.

VandeVelde is a 26-year-old center from Moorhead, Minn., who is entering his fourth season of professional hockey. He has spent the past three years with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL, and has 26 goals and 34 assists for 60 points in 194 career games with OKC and Springfield. VandeVelde has also played 28 career NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, recording one goal and two assists.

In 2012-13, VandeVelde registered seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 57 games with the Barons, while also skating in 11 games with the Oilers.

The product of the University of North Dakota has also appeared in 37 Calder Cup Playoff games with the Barons, notching nine goals and two assists while helping the club to the Western Conference Finals in 2012 and 2013.

Clarkson played 30 ECHL games as a rookie in 2012-13, totaling four goals, four assists and 41 penalty minutes between Trenton and Toledo.

Clarkson, 24, is the younger brother of Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson.
