Pirates sign Selleck, Hanley

The Portland Pirates today announced the signings of forward Eric Selleck and defenseman Joel Hanley for the 2014-15 season.
Selleck, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward from Spencerville, Ont., is entering his fifth season of professional hockey. The 26-year-old Selleck has played in 258 regular-season AHL games with Rochester, San Antonio and Chicago, recording 21 goals and 32 assists for 53 points while amassing 762 penalty minutes.
In 2013-14, Selleck appeared in 60 games between San Antonio and Chicago, totaling six goals, six assists and 163 PIM. He added one assist in nine playoff contests for the Wolves.
Selleck has played two NHL games in his career, both during the 2012-13 season with the Florida Panthers. He notched an assist and 17 PIM.
Hanley, a 23-year-old from Keswick, Ont., made his professional debut with the Pirates in 2013-14 after completing his senior season at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. In 15 games with the Pirates, Hanley tallied five assists.
Hanley played 131 games in four seasons at UMass and was twice named to the Hockey East conference's All-Academic Team.
