Predators acquire Jarnkrok, Eaves

The Nashville Predators, parent club of the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, have acquired forwards Calle Jarnkrok and Patrick Eaves and a conditional third-round selection in the 2014 Entry Draft from the Detroit Red Wings for forward David Legwand.

If the Red Wings make the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the third-round selection becomes a second-rounder.

Jarnkrok, 22, 13 goals, 23 assists and a plus-19 rating in 57 games during his first full season in North America with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013-14. He was recently rated No. 41 in The Hockey News’ Top 50 NHL-affiliated prospects.

A native of Gavle, Sweden, Jarnkrok helped Sweden win gold at the 2013 World Championships and won a Swedish League title in 2012 with Brynas. Jarnkrok was Detroit’s second-round pick (51st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Eaves, 29, has two goals and three assists in 23 games with Detroit this season, as well as four goals and two assists in eight AHL games with Grand Rapids. The former 20-goal scorer has amassed 146 points (74 goals, 72 assists) in 439 NHL games with Ottawa, Carolina and Detroit over nine NHL seasons.
