Rangers acquire All-Star goalie Hellberg

The New York Rangers, parent club of the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, have acquired goaltender Magnus Hellberg from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Hellberg, 24, appeared in 38 games with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL this past season, posting a 15-10-6 record, along with a 2.33 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and three shutouts. He also represented the Admirals at the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic.

The 6-foot-6, 198-pound netminder has appeared in 98 career AHL games over three seasons, posting a 42-36-7 record along with a 2.36 GAA, a .917 save percentage and 10 shutouts.

The Uppsala, Sweden, native was originally selected by Nashville in the second round, 38th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
