Rangers agree to terms with R. Bourque

The New York Rangers, parent club of the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, have agreed to terms with restricted free agent forward Ryan Bourque.

Bourque, 23, skated in 74 games with Hartford this past season, registering 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points, along with a plus-16 rating. He established career-highs in games played, goals, assists, points, plus/minus, power-play goals (seven), game-winning goals (three) and shots on goal (158).

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound forward has skated in 196 career AHL games over three seasons with Hartford/Connecticut, registering 35 goals and 31 assists for 66 points. Bourque’s goals, points and plus/minus rating have increased each year since his rookie season in 2011-12.

Internationally, the Boxford, Mass., native has represented Team USA in numerous tournaments, including the 2010 (gold) and 2011 (bronze) IIHF World Junior Championships.

Bourque was originally selected by the Rangers in the third round, 80th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He is joined in the organization by his older brother Chris, who signed with New York on July 2.
