Rangers pick up Bourret from Atlanta

The New York Rangers, parent club of the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, have acquired forward Alex Bourret from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Pascal Dupuis and a third-round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Bourret, 20, has appeared in 45 games for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League this season, recording 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists).

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound right wing was the Thrashers’ first-round selection, 16th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The native of Drummondville, Que., played four junior seasons in the QMJHL, setting career highs with 44 goals, 70 assists and 114 points in 67 games with Shawinigan in 2005-06 to earn Second Team league all-star honors.

Dupuis has recorded 142 points (68 goals, 74 assists) in 340 NHL games over six seasons. The native of Laval, Que., has totaled 11 goals and three assists in 54 games with Minnesota and the Rangers in 2006-07.
