The Laval Rocket won the first game in franchise history on Friday night, beginning their inaugural season with a 3-0 win over the Belleville Senators at Place Bell.
Daniel Audette scored the first Rocket goal at 7:17 of the opening period. Michael McCarron scored less than seven minutes later, and Nick Deslauriers netted an empty-netter late in the third period for the final margin.
Charlie Lindgren, an AHL All-Star as a rookie last season, made 26 saves for the shutout.
