Sabres sign McCauley

Buffalo Sabres general manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres, parent club of the AHL’s Portland Pirates, have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Dennis McCauley.

McCauley, 24, spent his rookie season with Worcester (AHL) in 2009-10, where he collected 10 goals and four assists for 14 points along with 84 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Sharks. He also had two assists in eight Calder Cup Playoff games.

The native of Billerica, Mass., played four years of college hockey at Northeastern (2005-09) where he picked up 45 points (22g, 23a) in 129 games.
