Sacco joins Lowell as assistant coach

The Lowell Lock Monsters announced today that Joe Sacco has been named Lowell’s assistant coach for the 2005-06 season. Sacco will join head coach Tom Rowe behind the bench when the Lock Monsters begin their eighth season in the AHL in October.

A native of Medford, Mass., Sacco accumulated 213 points (94g, 119a) through 738 games in a career that spanned 13 NHL seasons (1990-2003), including playing stints with Toronto, Anaheim, the New York Islanders, Washington and Philadelphia.

Sacco also appeared in 92 career AHL games with Newmarket, St. John’s and Philadelphia, totaling 36 goals and 36 assists for 72 points.

A product of Boston University, the right winger recorded 128 points (63g, 65a) through a three-year NCAA career.
