Senators acquire Brandon Gormley

The Ottawa Senators, parent club of the AHL’s Binghamton Senators, announced that they have acquired defenseman Brandon Gormley from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for future considerations.

Ottawa has assigned Gormley to Binghamton.

Gormley, 25, has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 35 AHL games played with Albany this season. Gormley was originally drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round, 13th overall, in 2010. In his career, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound defenseman has appeared in 58 National Hockey League games with Phoenix/Arizona and Colorado, totaling two goals and three assists.

In 223 American Hockey League games with San Antonio, Portland, and Albany, Gormley has 22 goals and 70 assists.
