The Ottawa Senators, parent club of the AHL’s Binghamton Senators, have traded forward Andre Petersson to the Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals, in exchange for defenseman Alex Grant.
Petersson is tied for third on Binghamton in scoring this season, with 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points along with a plus-12 rating in 47 games.
The 23-year-old Petersson has totaled 42 goals and 47 assists for 89 points in 124 games over three seasons with Binghamton. The native of Olofstrom, Sweden, was selected by Ottawa in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has played one career NHL game, with the Senators at Anaheim in 2011-12.
Grant is Norfolk’s top-scoring defenseman in 2013-14, having tallied seven goals and 20 assists for 26 points in 52 games. Grant made his NHL debut with the Ducks on Nov. 30, 2013, at San Jose and scored his first NHL goal in that contest. In two games with Anaheim, he has two goals.
A 25-year-old native of Antigonish, N.S., Grant has recorded 24 goals and 65 assists for 89 points over 177 career AHL games with Norfolk and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Draft by Pittsburgh.
