SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Binghamton Senators left wing Josh Hennessy has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 14, 2010. Hennessy led the Senators on their four-game road trip with four goals and five assists for nine points.
Binghamton began a 96-hour stretch of four road games in four cities with a visit to Manchester on Wednesday, and Hennessy scored two goals, including the shorthanded game-winner, and added an assist in a 5-3 victory. On Friday, Hennessy had a goal and an assist in a 6-4 defeat at Worcester, and he came back with an assist on the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 6-2 triumph in Portland. Finally, he capped a three-point afternoon on Sunday with the tie-breaking tally in the Senators’ 4-3 win at Providence.
In recognition of his achievement, Hennessy will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Senators home game.
A second-round draft choice by the San Jose Sharks in 2003, Hennessy has recorded 26 goals and 29 assists for 55 points in 65 games for Binghamton this season, and also has four games played with Ottawa on the year. The 25-year-old native of Brockton, Mass., has secured his fifth consecutive 20-goal season and now has 119 goals and 144 assists for 263 points in 356 career AHL games.
