SERIES NOTEBOOK:
After taking Hershey to six games in the conference finals last spring, Manchester opens the 2011 postseason against another East Division team, Binghamton... The Senators finished fifth in the East and cross over by virtue of finishing ahead of the Atlantic’s fourth-place finisher Worcester... Barry Brust, who tended goal for the Monarchs from 2005-07, was 29-19-2 with seven shutouts for the Senators this season and faced more shots than any other AHL goaltender... Binghamton is in the postseason for the first time since 2005, but the Sens’ roster features former Calder Cup champions Corey Locke and Andre Benoit... Locke, the AHL MVP and scoring champion for 2010-11, has 22-23-45 in 46 career playoff games... Bud Holloway, whose six playoff game-winning goals last spring tied a league record, led Manchester with 28 goals and 61 points in the 2010-11 regular season... Martin Jones (23-12-1, 2.25, .924) finished second among AHL rookies in goals-against average... Binghamton ranked first in the AHL on the power play overall (22.8 percent) and first in road penalty killing (87.9 percent); Manchester was fourth overall on the penalty kill (85.2 percent).
