SERIES NOTEBOOK:
This is Charlotte’s first season in the AHL, but for many Checkers this series is a rematch of Hershey’s ouster of Carolina’s affiliate (then the Albany River Rats) in the 2010 division finals... The Bears swept that series despite trailing in the third period of all four games... Hershey, the two-time defending Calder Cup champions, has won a league-record eight consecutive playoff series... Hershey and Charlotte split eight meetings this season but have squared off just twice since Christmas... Brian Willsie and Kyle Greentree were both 30-goal scorers for the Bears in the regular season, and Keith Aucoin had 18-54-72 in just 53 games... Bears forward Boyd Kane, winner of three Calder Cups, enters the postseason with 112 career playoff games played, tied for fifth all-time... Chris Terry’s 34 goals for the Checkers were good for third in the AHL and doubled his rookie total from a year ago, and fellow second-year pro Zach Boychuk led Charlotte in assists (43) and points (65)... Zac Dalpe, who had 3-3-6 in four playoff games vs. Hershey last spring, earned a spot on the AHL All-Rookie Team with 23-34-57 in 61 games.
