SERIES NOTEBOOK:
Houston and Peoria meet in the opening round for the third time in six years after both missed the playoffs in 2010... The Rivermen’s only two previous playoff appearances were cut short by the Aeros, who swept their meeting in 2006 and then won a Game 7 in Peoria in 2009 en route to the conference finals... Houston captain Jon DiSalvatore, who played two seasons (2005-07) with the Rivermen, scored a career-high 28 goals in 2010-11 to become the first AHL player since Don Biggs (1985-93) to score at least 20 in each of his first eight seasons... Patrick O'Sullivan was the AHL’s leading scorer over the second half of the season, putting up 16-25-41 in 29 games after the All-Star break... Peoria went 5-2-1-0 down the stretch to make the playoffs, and held off Texas and Oklahoma City to grab third place in the West Division... The Rivermen were 4-1-0-1 against Houston in the regular season, including one shutout each by Jake Allen and Ben Bishop... Graham Mink, who led Peoria with 24 goals this year, won Calder Cups with Hershey in 2006 and 2009... Three-time AHL All-Star T.J. Hensick, who led the Rivermen with 21-48-69 despite playing just 59 games due to NHL recalls, is poised to make his AHL postseason debut.
