SERIES NOTEBOOK:
Houston meets Hamilton for a berth in the 2011 Calder Cup Finals, the teams’ first postseason collision since the Aeros won a seven-game Calder Cup Finals series in 2003… The Aeros are in the conference finals for the second time in three seasons, and the Bulldogs are making their second straight appearance and fifth in the last 10 years… This is just the fourth time in AHL history that two teams will meet in a playoff series both coming off Game 7 wins… The clubs met twice in the regular season, each collecting a victory on the other’s home ice a week apart in December… The Bulldogs feature the AHL’s second-leading postseason goal-scorer in Nigel Dawes (9-5-14) and a goaltender in Drew MacIntyre who leads the league with a 1.63 goals-against average in 13 outings (8-5)… Aaron Palushaj has registered 12 points (4-8-12) in 12 playoff contests, matching his output in 19 postseason games last spring… Like MacIntyre, Houston rookie Matt Hackett (8-3, 2.29) has played every minute of his team’s playoff run to date… Aeros forward Patrick O'Sullivan, who reached the conference finals with Manchester in 2007, shows 10 points (4-6-10) in 11 games this postseason and 37 points (17-20-37) in 35 outings during his AHL playoff career… In its 11 playoff games, Houston has allowed the first goal eight times but has come back to win six of those… At 91.8 percent (56-for-61), Hamilton boasts the top-ranked penalty-killing unit among the four conference finalists... Houston has not lost a series in which it owned home-ice advantage since dropping a best-of-three qualifying series to Cincinnati in 2004... A Canadian team is in the Western Conference Finals for the fifth year in a row.
