Sharks get Rau; Gogol, Brace to Iowa

The San Jose Sharks have acquired forward Chad Rau from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Curt Gogol.

In a related move, Worcester has traded right wing Riley Brace to the AHL’s Iowa Wild.

Rau, 27, has recorded one goal and six assists in 33 games played with Iowa this season. He has tallied 147 points (63 goals, 84 assists) in 299 career AHL games with Houston and Iowa and has registered two goals in nine career NHL contests for Minnesota.

The 5-foot-11, 198-pound native of Eden Prairie, Minn., was originally drafted by Toronto in the seventh round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Rau spent four seasons at Colorado College (2005-09) and helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2005 U-18 World Junior Championship.

Gogol, 22, has recorded four points (three goals, one assist) and 149 penalty minutes in 40 games with Worcester this season. In 131 career AHL games, all with Worcester, Gogol has registered 20 points (13 goals, seven assists) and 455 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound left wing was signed by San Jose as a free agent on Sept. 21, 2010.

Brace has recorded three assists and 33 penalty minutes in 24 games with Worcester this season.
