Sound Tigers add defenseman Benoit

The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-assigned defenseman Andre Benoit to the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

A two-time Calder Cup champion, Benoit had played 31 games with the Cleveland Monsters this season, registering one goal and four assists.

The 34-year-old blueliner has appeared in 422 career regular-season games in the AHL, totaling 52 goals and 159 assists for 211 points. He won Calder Cup championships with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2007 and with the Binghamton Senators in 2011, and was a Second Team AHL All-Star in 2010-11. Benoit also participated in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2016.

Benoit has posted 11 goals and 37 assists in 181 career NHL appearances for Ottawa, Colorado, Buffalo and St. Louis.
