Sound Tigers sign goaltender Ouellet

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have signed goaltender Maxime Ouellet to a one-year contract, the AHL team announced on Thursday.

The 26-year-old Ouellet will compete with Michael Mole and recently signed Joey MacDonald for the two vacant goaltending spots with the Sound Tigers this upcoming season.

Ouellet, a first-round draft choice by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1999, has posted a record of 81-88-26 with 18 shutouts in 206 career AHL games with Philadelphia, Portland, Hershey and Manitoba. He was a Second Team AHL All-Star in 2002-03, and had a career-best 1.99 goals-against average in 2003-04.

A native of Beauport, Que., Ouellet has also appeared in 12 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Washington and Vancouver.
