Stars strike late for 2-0 victory

TEXAS 2, GRAND RAPIDS 0
Rookie winger Sergei Korostin broke a scoreless deadlock with just 1:33 to play in regulation, and Texas went on to post a 2-0 win over visiting Grand Rapids on Thursday at the Cedar Park Center.

Korostin’s second goal of the campaign was assisted by Warren Peters, and it came in a third period in which the Stars outshot Grand Rapids by a 15-7 margin.

Ex-Griffin Aaron Gagnon then added an empty-net marker in the closing seconds to seal the victory for the Stars, who extended their points streak to four games (3-0-0-1).

Texas goaltender Matt Climie registered the shutout, stopping all 25 shots sent his way.

Griffins rookie netminder Thomas McCollum took the loss despite making 30 saves on 31 shots.
