Etienne Boutet (D)

Enters his first professional season in 2013-14. Boutet was undrafted after playing five seasons of major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and he signed a standard AHL contract with Texas on August 27, 2013. In 289 career QMJHL games for Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Rimouski Oceanic and Gatineau Olympiques he had 113 career points (28 goals, 85 assists) and 299 penalty minutes. Boutet began the 2012-13 season with Rimouski, playing in 27 games before being traded to Gatineau on November 27, 2012 for a second round pick in the 2013 QMJHL Draft. He played in 46 career QMJHL playoff games, scoring 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) and adding 53 penalty minutes. Boutet helped Rimouski reach the 2012 President’s Cup Finals, before being swept in four games by the Saint John Sea Dogs. He attended NHL training camps with the Dallas Stars in 2010 and the Philadelphia Flyers in 2011, while participating in the Hamilton Bulldogs’ AHL training camp in 2012. Boutet’s younger brother, Jasmin, currently plays in the QMJHL for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
