2009-10: Attended the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) training camp… Assigned to Albany 9/27/09.
2008-09: Completed his junior season at Wisconsin and served as an assistant captain, before making his pro debut with Albany (AHL)… Led the Badgers in scoring with 37 points (7 goals, 30 assists) in 40 games played to become the fifth defenseman in school history to lead the team in scoring… Led all WCHA players in scoring in league games (28 points), becoming just the second defenseman in WCHA history to lead the conference in points… Named the WCHA Player of the Year and a top-ten finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award for the nation’s top college player… Had two points (1 goal, 1 assist) at Denver (10/17)… Had a three-point game (1 goal, 2 assists) vs. Michigan Tech (11/8)… Posted a seven-game point streak (2 goals, 9 assists) from 10/31/08 at North Dakota to 11/21/08 at St. Cloud State… Tallied three assists vs. Northern Michigan (1/3)… Scored a goal and two assists at Minnesota (2/7)… Signed a three-year NHL contract with Carolina, was assigned to Albany and signed an ATO on 3/26/09… Made his professional, AHL and River Rats debut vs. Hartford (3/27)… Scored his first career Pro point with a goal vs. BPT (3/31)… Recorded his first career Pro assist at BNG (4/4).
Career Notes: Played for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in 2007 and 2008, winning the Bronze Medal with a over the hosts Sweden in 2007… Drafted by Carolina in the second round (63rd Overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft… Signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on March 26, 2009.
College: Played three years of NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Wisconsin Badgers (WCHA)… Scored 79 points (15 goals, 64 assists) and totaled 84 penalty minutes in 111 games… Led all Wisconsin defensemen in points during each of his three seasons… Selected to the WCHA All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2006-07 after leading all WCHA rookie defenders with 13 points in league games… Selected to the Third-Team All-WCHA and to the 2008 NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team… Won the Dr. Joseph Coyne Most Consistent Player award in 2007-08…Also played two seasons of junior hockey for the U.S. National Under-18 team in the NAHL, playing in 52 games and recording 14 points (2 goals, 14 assists) and 28 penalty minutes.
